This publication is the third and so far final volume in a series reprinting the first Animal Man comic book series. All material in this publication was written by Grant Morrison and illustrated by Chas Truog and Doug Hazlewood, except for issue #22, which was illustrated by Paris Cullins and Steve Montano, and issues #25 and #26, inked by Mark Farmer. The cover for this publication was created by Brian Bolland.

While this concluded writer Grant Morrison’s run, the Animal Man comic book series continued until issue #89 was published in 1995. Peter Milligan began as new series writer with issue #27, with Chas Truog and Mark Farmer continuing on as the art team. With the exception of Steve Dillon illustrating issue #29, the three creators remained on the series until issue #32. Tom Veitch became the new writer with issue #33, joined by artists Steve Dillon and Mark Farmer. Tom Mandrake filled in for Dillon on issue #39. Dillon took over full art duties with issue #41. Issue #42 was illustrated by David G. Klein and Mark Badger. Issue #44 was drawn by Brett Ewins and Jim McCarthy. Issue #46 was illustrated by Steve Pugh, who became the new series artist with issue #51. Jamie Delano took over writing the series with the same issue. Issue #56 had an additional story illustrated by Scot Eaton and Graham Higgins. John Higgins illustrated issue #58. Russell Braun and Graham Higgins illustrated issue #59. Russell Brown and Tom Sutton illustrated issues #60 and #71. Will Simpson illustrated issues #64 and #65, with Dan Steffan providing inks on issue #64. Russell Braun, Fred Harper and Gene Fama illustrated issue #74. Peter Snejbjerg illustrated issue #77. Writer Jerry Prosser and the art team of Fred Harper and Jason Temujin took over the series with issue #80 and remained until the series’ finale with issue #89. There was also an Animal Man Annual #1 from 1993 by writer Jamie Delano and the art team of Russell Braun, Rafael Kayanan and Tom Sutton. These issues have yet to be collected or reprinted.
